The agreement, in plain language.

These terms cover your use of Minimal Writer, the writing app at my.minimalwriter.app. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, ask before you subscribe.

1. Who you are contracting with

2. Your account

You need an account to sync your writing across devices. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account. Accounts are for one person — you may use Minimal Writer on as many of your own devices as you like, but you may not share your account with others.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 16, or have a parent or guardian's consent.

3. Trial, plans and what each one includes

New accounts start with a 60-day trial of every Pro feature. No card is required, and it does not turn into a paid subscription on its own — nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe.

Minimal Writer is early, and while it is, subscriptions are not yet open. The plans below describe what each one will include; until they can be bought, the trial is the whole service. We will say so in the app before that changes, and no account is charged without choosing to subscribe first.

There are two paid plans, billed monthly or annually:

The price is the one shown at checkout for your country, including any VAT or sales tax Paddle is required to collect. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.

4. Cancelling, and what happens to your writing

You can cancel at any time from Billing inside the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate a part-used period — see the Refund Policy for when money comes back.

When a subscription ends, your account becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted: every document stays where it is, stays readable, and stays exportable to Markdown. You simply cannot edit or create until you subscribe again.

You can delete your account outright from Account settings. That is permanent: it removes your documents, folders, snapshots and profile from our servers, and cancels any active subscription first. Copies already on your own devices are yours to keep or clear.

5. Your content is yours

You own everything you write. We claim no licence to it beyond what is technically needed to run the service for you — storing it, syncing it between your devices, and sending it back to you. We do not read it, do not use it to train anything, and do not sell or share it. See the Privacy Policy for details.

You are responsible for what you write and for having the right to write it. You may not use Minimal Writer to store or distribute material that is illegal where you or we are, or to attack, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.

6. Data, backups and local-first storage

Minimal Writer is designed local-first: your content is stored locally on your device before syncing. While we employ standard technical measures for cloud synchronization, you acknowledge and agree that no online service or cloud storage is 100% secure, uninterrupted, or error-free.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING YOUR OWN BACKUPS OF YOUR CONTENT. Minimal Writer does not guarantee that your data will not be lost, corrupted, deleted, or altered. We strongly encourage you to regularly export your content using the free export options provided.

7. Availability, modifications and force majeure

Minimal Writer is under active development. Features are added, refined and occasionally retired, and the app you subscribe to today will not be identical in a year. Subscribing means subscribing to a service that keeps changing, not to a fixed set of features frozen on the day you paid.

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, add, or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what your current plan includes, we will notify you by email before it takes effect, and you may cancel and request a refund of the unused part of your period.

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, cloud provider outages, cyberattacks, network disruptions, or regulatory changes.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them; if you do not, cancel before they take effect.

8. Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used to attack the service, or is used for illegal activity. Except where the law or an active attack makes it impossible, we will notify you first and give you a reasonable opportunity to export your writing.

9. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOUR CONTENT WILL BE SECURE OR NOT OTHERWISE LOST OR DAMAGED.

9.2 Limitation of liability. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL GRANULARITYLABS - SANDBAKK, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
